Over a three week period (spread out from Oct ’06 thru Jan ’07) I would sketch this section of the Caltrain Station at San Carlos a little bit at a time. Even if I arrived at the station just as my train was pulling up, I would still take a mental snapshot of what I saw and put several lines down as I settled into my seat.
This was more of a mental exercise than anything else.
The scene is so beautiful and you done it very well. I wish I could have that scene in Malaysia.
VERY nice composition Robert. If you get into painting it, maybe you can add a foreground element to push the depth a tiny bit… maybe something similar to that small tree you have behind the ‘San Carlos’ sign could be in the FG somewhere. (but just the top of it so it doesn’t mess too much with the comp you already have working nicely… something subtle in my opinion.
Looks really nice Robert!
Thanks for the comments! Dan, I appreciate the crit! I agree with your suggestions too… actually, I think the perspective is a bit off with those light posts. I think I might have to attack this in Painter.
